Are You Using The Right Attack?
Basic Technique No Comments »When someone wants to learn to sing or improve their voice, often times they only think about things like range, power and hitting high notes.
The root of all problems or vocal perfection come from which attack the singer uses.
The attack is what the singer physically does and thinks as they sing. When it comes to singing there are only three attacks. The best known is the diaphgragmatic. This attack is way overhyped, and in fact is awful for the voice if you want to sound good. The second attack is the glottal, that is all from the throat, is is also a horrible attack and will simply cause the voice to lock up.
The best attack is the attack of the mask. This attack causes diaphgragmatic action and everything in the throat/vocal folds to be balanced and happen by reflex. This is important to note, because when you think about it, it’s perposterous to think when watching a great singer that they are consciously thinking about support for every note or the vocal folds or what is going on in the throat….unless it is causing problems.
This is just one reason the attack of the mask is superior. Not only is the attack of mask easier to do, it is always balanced, has a wide range and makes singing feel like humming with the mouth open.
If you have problems with your voice it is probably because you do not use or properly use the attack of the mask. To learn the attack of the mask go to www.vocalrelease.com Is is the absolute best singing instruction you can get.
